Apr 16---On Wednesday April 16th, the Hamilton Area Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Marion County EMA, Hamilton Fire, Hamilton B.A..S.E., MotorSports SuperStore and Fox 6 will host a second severe weather preparedness day. The event will be 11am-6:30pm at MotorSports SuperStore in Hamilton. Fox 6 meteorologist J.P.Dice, Wes Wyatt and Jill GIlardi will be onhand to program your weather radios, cell phones, give out a 72-hour emergency kit, handouts and information flyers to assist individuals and businesses in preparation for severe weather.

Apr 22---There will be a Gospel Meeting at the Church of Christ at Needmore in Haleyville April 20-22. Aubrey Belue will be the speaker. Services at 9:30, 10:30, 2:00 AND 3:00 on Sunday...7pm Monday and Tuesday. The church is located behind the hospital in Haleyville
Apr 24---Winfield Elementary Kindergarten Registration and Clinic will be held Thursday April 24th at the Elementary School Auditorium at 8am. Students must be 5 years od on or before September 2, 2014 in order to attend kindergarten next year. Please Bring the child, copy of the child's official birth certificate, original up to date blue immunization ard, copy of social security card, two copies of proof of residence, and enrollment packet from the school. Parents and the child should come to registration even if the child has not received all the immunizations so the child can go through the clinic and be enrolled for the next school year. Please come by the school prior to registration to get an enrollment packet. If you cannot come to registration please come by the school to add the child's name to the list for the next year and get a packet. Call 487-2305 for info

Apr 25---The 2014 Marion County Relay for Life Survivors Dinner hosted by Hospice of Northwest Alabama will be Friday April 25th, 4:00-5:30pm at the Hamilton High School Cafeteria. All cancer survivors and a guest are invited to attend. There will be a meal servec and door prizes given away. For info call 487-8140
Apr 25---Marion County Relay for Life Begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Hamilton track (behind Hamilton Fire Department) Teams and corporate sponsors are needed for this event held annually in Hamilton at the HHS walking track. Events throughout the evening include the survivors' walk, lighting of luminaries, and events honoring those that have fought the battle with cancer. The goal for Marion County is $80,000. To register a team, to be a corporate sponsor, or for more information, contact Matt McCracken at (205) 495-3450.

Apr 26---We Love Hamilton Clean Up Day The Hamilton Beautification Committee will host its annual We Love Hamilton Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 26. Hamilton Lions Club will host its pancake breakfast for all volunteers beginning at 7:00 a.m. at the Hamilton United Methodist Church. Immediately following the breakfast, volunteers will disperse and work throughout the community and will help beautify our community. Everyone is encouraged to volunteer, especially groups from churches, civic organizations, and businesses, as well as individuals. May 1---The Winfield High School Lady Pirate Softball Boosters Club is selling $5 donation tickets for a a trip to the home of the Duck Commander Headquarters in West Monroe, Louisiana. The trip includes accommodations for 4 at the Hilton Garden Inn, dinner for 4 at Willie’s Diner, and a $150 pre-paid Visa card. Tickets are available from any Pirate player or booster. May 3---Members of the Marion County Historical Society are planning a yard sale to be held on Saturday May 3rd on the lawn of the Hamilton-Sullins House. All proceeds raised will be used to restore the home.
